Mercury Cougar Horsepower & Torque (2002)

The Mercury Cougar, produced from 1967 to 2002, is Mercury's longest-running nameplate after the Grand Marquis, with over 2.9 million units sold.

Known for its versatility, the Cougar transitioned from muscle car roots to a sporty compact by its final generation.

In 2002, the Cougar offered two engine options: a 2.0L DOHC Zetec producing 125 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.5L DOHC Duratec V6 delivering 170 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque.

Both engines featured front-wheel drive (FWD) and were paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

This marked the Cougar's final year of production, capping its legacy with a focus on efficiency and sporty performance.
